Sanford, Florida, November 11, 2020 –  Resolute’s Sanford tissue operation proudly announced contributions to three local organizations in celebration of the facility’s recent safety achievement.  On September 21, 2020, employees at the facility recorded a milestone of 750,000 safe hours without a recordable injury.

“We are incredibly proud of the work of our employees to build a safety culture at the mill,” said Bob Visscher, plant General Manager.  “Reaching this point took four years of not just talking about safety, but actually practicing strict safety measures in everything we do.  Even with the complications of COVID and implementing additional protective measures as a result, our employees were able to remain focused on safety.”

Through Resolute’s Board of Directors Safety Award program, and in recognition of this achievement, the Sanford mill earned $10,000 to distribute to non-profit organizations in the community.  Three local organizations, chosen as recipients of this award by employees of the mill, include SafeHouse of Seminole County, New Hope for Kids and Friends of Abused Children.

“One of Resolute’s corporate values is to prioritize the safety of our employees by creating an injury-free workplace.  Through our Board of Directors Safety Award program, we are able to recognize and reward facilities who exemplify this standard.  We are also able to pay these rewards forward to local organizations who address critical needs of the community,” stated Rob Martin, Tissue Division General Manager.

Resolute’s Sanford operation has been in operation since 2002 and produces tissue products sold to retail merchants and commercial businesses across the Southeastern U.S.   The facility employs 73 individuals, and currently has openings in both entry-level as well as skilled positions.

SafeHouse of Seminole County is dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic violence by improving the lives of victims and survivors, both adults and children, and promoting healthy relationships. Its success is founded in the belief that through prevention and working toward creating change, the plan to finally end violence for the next generation of children can end the cycle of abuse.

New Hope for Kids is a specialized community resource for children and families coping with the death of a loved one.  Since its inception, New Hope for Kids has helped more than 8,000 children – 6,500 through grief facilitation and more than 1,600 children who have had their wish granted.
